The “Who Saved Who?” piece was inspired by one of my favorite TV shows growing up, I Dream of Jeannie. I remember the first time I watched it I was trying to figure out who actually saved who. Major Nelson crashed landed on a deserted island and needed to be saved. Jeannie was imprisoned in her bottle and also needed to be saved. The “being saved” theme didn’t end there; they spent the rest of the series continually coming up with stories showing how they kept saving each other. I think their relationship is a great picture of real life. When you find the one you love, you both spend the rest of your lives happily saving the other. So, to answer the question, “Who saved who?” I think they saved each other!
Every piece of art I create starts with a conceptual sketch and this is the original conceptual sketch I drew of Jeannie for my "Who Saved Who?” piece. This sketch is one-of-a-kind and really demonstrates the thought process behind the finished work. While I was working for Walt Disney Feature Animation I drew on animation paper with a red pencil. I fell in love with how the pencil feels on animation paper so it’s still part of my process to this day.
The sketch size is 14" x 11" drawn on animation paper and double matted with a white top matte and black bottom matte. The fully matted size is 20" x 16".
*All sizes are width x height format, in inches.
