The retro, fun shapes, colors and design also pay homage to my childhood influence of watching Flash Gordon. All prints are professionally printed, packaged, and shipped. Growing up my dad had a magazine subscription to Popular Mechanics. As an 8-year-old I loved looking at the technical illustrations in that magazine of what people in the 70’s thought the future was going to look like. In grade school I even started drawing my version of what I though the future was going to look like. They always had a lot of dome structures and rockets! Those drawings were inspired by the pictures I saw in Popular Mechanics, cartoons like The Jetsons, TV shows like Star Trek and movies like Star Wars.
The very first time I saw Cinderella’s Castle I had just arrived in Florida to start my internship at Walt Disney Feature Animation! It was much bigger and more beautiful than I expected! It didn’t matter how many times I saw it while working there, it always seemed magical to me. While working on this piece I wanted to capture the inspiration of my childhood, magazine art, cartoons, TV and movies and see how I would create my version of the futuristic castle now. With “Atomic Castle” I hope it makes us feel the magic and beauty of the present and inspires us to keep on dreaming of the future!
Our Deluxe Prints are printed on Luster Fine Art paper and some sizes come Double Matted. All of our fine art prints are printed on an Aqueous Printer using Archival Inks to provide the highest quality.
For Double Matted Luster Fine Art Paper Prints add 4 inches to each side for the Double Matte. Example: an 11x14” print will have a Matte sized 15x18”
*Please note: the 20x25” and larger sized luster paper prints will not come Matted, and will include a 0.5" white border around the print. These larger prints ship rolled in a tube.
