“The Invitation” is a mid-century modern styled original painting, designed after the infamous Balloon chair of the mid-century and meant to be a reminder of the iconic furniture of that era. It’s a 51x63" original acrylic painting on canvas and float mounted in a 2" deep black wooden frame, ready to hang by the artist Scooter.

This specific style of chair, called a Balloon Chair, to me is a picture of God’s loving, all powerful hands wrapping around and holding you up.  When life is crazy, difficult, stressful and there is NO PEACE, this is a picture of the love and strength of God who is able to wrap His hands around and hold us up when we can’t hold ourselves up.  I’ve had several times in my life where I didn’t have the strength to keep going and God carried me through them and gave me rest.  And just like a Balloon Chair how it surrounds you and holds you up, I’ve experienced the same of God’s love.  I don’t believe God forces us to rest in Him, but “The Invitation” is always open!
